{"id":5084,"date":"2025-07-10T12:28:10","date_gmt":"2025-07-10T10:28:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ecohabitats.cat\/bioconstruction-in-commercial-environments-health-and-sustainability-where-it-is-most-needed\/"},"modified":"2026-02-10T10:54:54","modified_gmt":"2026-02-10T09:54:54","slug":"bioconstruction-in-commercial-environments-health-and-sustainability-where-it-is-most-needed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ecohabitats.cat\/en\/blog\/bioconstruction-in-commercial-environments-health-and-sustainability-where-it-is-most-needed\/","title":{"rendered":"Bioconstruction in commercial environments: health and sustainability where it is most needed"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Applying healthy criteria in offices, supermarkets, and urban restaurants<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bioconstruction is not just for rural homes.<br\/> It can \u2014 and should \u2014 also be applied in spaces where we spend many hours a day: <strong>shops, offices, restaurants, or supermarkets<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At Ecohabitats, we believe that commercial environments should be <strong>healthy, efficient, and consistent with the values of the brands that occupy them<\/strong>.<br\/> And that starts with the architecture.<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What does applying bioconstruction in a commercial space involve?<\/h2>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Distributing logically to promote <strong>natural ventilation and fluid user flow<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Choosing materials that <strong>do not emit toxins or overheat the interior environment<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Taking care of the <strong>acoustics<\/strong>, <strong>natural or warm lighting<\/strong>, and the <strong>sensation of passive thermal comfort<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reducing the mechanical load: <strong>less forced air conditioning, more insulation and intelligent orientation<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Using respectful construction systems also in the execution (less dust, noise, waste)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Offices and supermarket with bioconstruction criteria<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the Veritas Diputaci\u00f3 project, we transformed a 2,400 m\u00b2 space into three distinct areas: offices, a supermarket, and a restaurant.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We applied bioconstruction solutions such as:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Open layouts for lighting and cross ventilation<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Recyclable and low-impact materials<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lightweight and demountable interior separations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Healthy showcooking areas with spatial logic<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Example:<\/strong><br\/><strong>See project at <a href=\"https:\/\/ecohabitats.cat\/proyecto\/veritas-diputacio\/\" data-type=\"proyecto\" data-id=\"1111\">Veritas Diputaci\u00f3<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Renovating in shopping centers: another way to consume<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In La Maquinista and Gl\u00f2ries, we designed and executed two premises for Veritas in the heart of the commercial area. There, it was also possible to apply: <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Finishes without PVC<\/strong> or toxic resins<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Highly durable but breathable coatings<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Efficient lighting adapted to fresh products<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Spatial ergonomics to improve the customer experience<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Example:<\/strong><br\/><strong>See project at <a href=\"https:\/\/ecohabitats.cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Proyecto-Veritas-Maquinista-Destacada.webp\" data-type=\"attachment\" data-id=\"1108\">Veritas Gl\u00f2ries y La Maquinista<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Healthy spaces, also at work<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In all these cases, the objective is not only aesthetic or functional.
